Research Article

The Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Engineering Journal of Science and Engineering (DEUFMD) is a Turkish-English journal that publishes original research in science and engineering. The journal aims to follow the latest developments in the field, contribute to the national and international development of science and engineering, and provide a valuable resource for Turkish-speaking scholars.

The Journal of Science and Engineering is a scientific publication associated with the Faculty of Engineering at Dokuz Eylül University. It has been in publication since 1999. The purpose of this publication is to contribute to our understanding of science, engineering, and technological advancements. It includes research articles that explore experimental and theoretical progress in these fields, as well as invited review articles and technical notes that provide analytical and numerical solutions. To ensure the quality and relevance of the scientific content, all manuscripts undertake review by a minimum of two professional referees. Articles that are considered acceptable during the evaluation process are selected for publication and the article owner is quickly notified. The Journal of Science and Engineering is published on a quarterly basis, mainly in the months of January, May, and September.

'Extended Abstract' will be added to articles published in Turkish starting with the January 2024 issue.

The Extended Abstract serves as a crucial reference for researchers and readers who are conducting comprehensive reviews of databases on a global scale. The Extended Abstract provides a more comprehensive and detailed explanation of the study's purpose, methodology, and results compared to conventional abstracts. The Extended Abstract, published in English, promotes the citation of articles on an international scale.

Turkish-prepared articles should contain a 'Extended Abstract' written in English, which should be between 500 and 1,500 words long. This abstract should provide a comprehensive summary of the research findings and information, making it suitable for citation by international authors.

The Extended Abstract should be placed following the Abstract section of the article. Keywords should be excluded from the Extended Abstract section.

The Extended Abstract should present the study's objective, problem, methods, findings, results, and conclusions either with or without subheadings. The subheadings in the extended abstract may differ based on the type of the research.

The DEUFMD Article Writing Template 2024 is recommended for the preparation of articles in English.

Documents that need to be uploaded to the system during the article submission step using the DergiPark interface:

1. Full text file without author, institution, or email according to publication template (blind review)

2. Turkish-English abstract file without author, institution, or email according to publication template (blind review)

3. Copyright transfer form file signed by all authors and handwritten.

4. Manually filled-out article printing request letter signed by all authors

*** After review, accepted articles will be uploaded to the system again by the author in a format ready for printing and publication, with author names, email, and institution information filled in and the edited final version accepted by the reviewers. After these steps, articles will be queued for publication and DOI and page numbers assigned.

Ethical principles and obligations

Clinical and experimental studies involving humans and animals across various disciplines necessitate an ethics committee's approval. These studies encompass both qualitative and quantitative research methods, involving data collection from participants through surveys, interviews, focus group studies, observations, experiments, and interview techniques.
- Utilization of humans and animals (together with their materials and data) for experimental or scientific reasons,
- Human clinical trials, - Animal research,
The user did not provide any text. Retrospective research require individual clearance from an ethical committee, as mandated by the personal data protection law. This approval must be explicitly mentioned and recorded in the paper.
The "Method" portion of the article should provide the board's name, date, and number of approval. Additionally, this information should be given on both the opening and last page of the article.
When uploading an article, it is necessary to upload the Ethics Committee Approval file together with the article file.
Furthermore, when it comes to presentations, it is essential to provide details regarding the endorsement of the informed consent/assent form within the article.

12. Researchers who made major contributions to the concept, design, performance, data collection and/or analysis of a study, researchers involved in the preparation or critical revision of manuscripts, and researchers who approved the final manuscript and accepted its submission should be included as corresponding authors. Other contributors (e.g. technical support, writing and editing assistants, general contributions, etc.) should not be included in the list of authors, but their contributions should be included in the acknowledgments section.

13. If there is a need to add authors, change the order of authors, or remove authors from an article that has started the review process, an application can be made to the journal management with the approval of all authors.
